Fabric of life & shifting terrains

Fabric of life & shifting terrains

Danielle wearing her custom stacked rings

Inspired by the springs of living waters. The picture of constant, ever-flowing refreshment that never grows old or ever ceases. It is a nourishment to the soul, and a peace to the heart. Like sea foam, eternity wells [bubbles] up in the spirit, bringing with it a new life and unshaken hope.

“But whoever takes a drink of the water that I will give him shall never, no never, be thirsty any more. But the water that I will give him shall become a spring of water welling up (flowing, bubbling) [continually] within him unto (into, for) eternal life.”  - John 4:14 AMPC

Danielle requested thinner, more minimal pieces to fit her everyday style.

The focal point of the ring designs was to replicate the shape of the bubbled sea foam above and to follow the flow of the structure as the band of the ring. I created 2 bands, which represent the surface vs the depth of a flowing stream [spring of living waters].

The top band reflects the surface of the stream where hope bubbles up (hence the bubbled texture and dynamic shapes around the band), while the bottom band represents how the deeper end of the stream is always flowing peacefully and calming regardless of how agitated the surface or environment may be.

Final pieces

"...it seems like rivers split when there are changes in the terrain! Sometimes they rejoin the same river when terrain allows it, or sometimes they split and flow into the sea! Or they split and just keep going it seems... just thought it was so cool how rivers don't stop flowing just because there's something different in the terrain- but they adapt and flow with the terrain!" - Danielle

Split river terrain

One of the design considerations was to include a element that incorporated a personal batik artwork that she did as well as to represent the split in rivers, to link back to her faith:

"On the topic of flowing with the Holy Spirit I felt like this is picture also reminds me of letting go and letting God :') like how sometimes things don't always go our way (e.g. like how there are changes in terrain in the path of river bodies and its not always smooth/level ground) but we can surrender to the Lord's way and just flow with Him even if it means taking a different shape or form..." - Danielle

The changes made throughout this design process alongside Danielle became a significant aspect to the meaning of the piece itself - a reminder that it is okay when things shift and to hold onto a hope that it'll be better than before.

Love, Jaymee
