Phi Phi Island

Michelle approached me with an idea in mind to have the shape of Phi Phi Island, a place where she and her sister became close, made into a ring! She also wanted to infuse a specific texture that I did previously into the piece, alongside wave-like features and elements of scuba diving. I loved the idea of how places can evoke emotion and memories, as someone who is sentimental about locations as well, I wanted this piece to embody the dreamy feeling of reminiscing (rather than it turning out to look like a souvenir from the place.)

To include similar textures of a past work that I did

Using the shape of Phi Phi Island, we decided on how it could wrap around the finger as a ring

And this is how it turned out! The inner band of the ring features rocky textures, which mimics Phi Phi Island's textures.
